SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In a matchup of the conference's two nationally-ranked teams, Xavier defeated LSU Alexandria, 4-0, to win the title at the 2024 RRAC Women's Tennis Championship at Blossom Tennis Center on Saturday.
Third-ranked Xavier earned the doubles point with two victories. The pairings of Valaine Clarke-Kyra Akinnibi and Kareemah Muhammad-McKenna Wheatley won 6-0 and 6-3, respectively.
Akinnibi, who was named the tournament MVP, Wheatley and Valentina Largacha won their singles matches in straight sets to claim the title. All three singles winners were placed on the all-tournament team with Muhammad.
LSUA, which is ranked 13th in the NAIA, landed RRAC Player of the Year Olivia Scattini, Annemart Kleijn and Lucie Ivanova on the all-tournament team.
Xavier had a first-round bye in the tournament then defeated host Our Lady of the Lake in the semifinals. LSUA shut out Texas A&M-Texarkana and LSU Shreveport on route to the final.
