OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Sooner Athletic Conference is proud to announce that John Brown University’s Nick Robinson has been awarded the 2023-24 SAC Sports Information Director of the Year honor as voted on by his peers within the conference. This is the second time that Robinson has been awarded this honor and is the longest-serving SID in the conference.
Winners of each conference SID of the Year are sent to the NAIA Awards Committee for consideration for the national SID of the Year honor which will be announced in September on NAIA National Awards Day.
The Sooner Athletic Conference SID of the Year recognizes an outstanding Sports Information Director based on accomplishments during the previous year. This includes their service to not only the institution’s student-athletes, but to the conference sports information directors, the SAC, and the NAIA.
"In all my years of working in the industry, I have never worked with an individual who is so giving of his time as Robinson," stated SAC Assistant Commissioner Jim Powers. "Robinson is ready and willing to lend a hand, whether it is with his teams and student-athletes at John Brown, sports information directors in the SAC, or the NAIA National Office."
Robinson just completed his 12th year at John Brown and his knowledge as a communicator on the collegiate level is wide-reaching and he is a perfectionist, which is essential in our industry. John Brown University leans on Robinson on many levels. From developing graphics to overseeing John Brown’s streaming platform while utilizing his writing ability and statistical recording,
Robinson oversees all of John Brown’s home events which include stats, Pregame graphics, social media, press releases, music, official video replay, and many other duties. He also penned over 200 articles during the 2023-24 season alone and was awarded the NAIA-SIDA Website of the Year during that time.
Robinson has also taken the lead on the sports information side as John Brown hosted both the first and second rounds of the NAIA Women’s Soccer and Basketball Championship.
"Nicholas Robinson is one of the best in the business, so it is no surprise he has been selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year," said Brad Cygan, NAIA Director of Athletics Communications. "His tireless efforts to increase the exposure and the level in which his teams are covered are well worthy of this prestigious honor."
