Pike Named 2024 SAC Baseball Player of the Year

Oklahoma City – After leading Oklahoma City to a second-place conference finish during the regular season, Chad Pike was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Issac Baez of Mid-America Christian garnered the conference Pitcher of the Year award while Ben Bach of Science & Arts earned the Newcomer of the Year honor. Texas Wesleyan’s Jake Spencer claimed the conference Freshman of the Year award with Mid-America Christian Skipper Brett Stanton gaining the league Coach of the Year honors.

Pike finished the season with a .312 batting average while finishing eighth in the conference in slugging percentage with an average of .672. Pike also finished fourth in the league with 13 home runs. Pike contributed to the Stars on the mound as he led the SAC with 14 saves.

Baez aided the Evangels to the top seed in the tournament by having a record of 10-1 and was second in the conference with an earned run average of 2.78. He also was second in the league in strikeouts with 86 and only allowed 55 hits on the season.

Bach was a key part of Science & Arts’ success this season as he finished the season with a .313 batting average while ending the year in seventh place in runs scored with 47 and 10th in the league in runs batted in with 41.

Spencer had an impressive freshman campaign by wrapping up the season with a .370 batting average and eight runs batted in and 10 hits.

Stanton led the Evangels to their first SAC Regular Season Championship this season as Mid-America Christian finished the season with an overall record of 38-10 and a conference mark of 20-4.
