Oklahoma City - Avery Schneringer of Mid-America Christian was named this week’s NAIA National Pitcher of the Week as a result of voting by a national panel as announced by the HAIA National Office Tuesday afternoon.
Schneringer is the only pitcher in the NAIA to pitch a complete game shutout against No. 4 Science & Arts, tossing seven innings of four-hit ball with two walks and three strikeouts in leading the Evangels to a 2-0 victory and forcing a 2-2 series split against the Drovers. Overall, Schneringer allowed just one earned run in 8.1 innings of work for the weekend.
Scheringer becomes the second Sooner Athletic Conference pitcher to earn the national honor this season as she joins Sophie Williams from Science & Arts who won the award a few weeks back.
