Goodwell, Okla. - Oklahoma Panhandle State University regretfully announces the resignation of Marc Benjamin from his position as head coach of the Aggies softball team. Benjamin, who has dedicated four years to the program, will be stepping down with a record of 96-100.
During his tenure, Coach Benjamin achieved significant milestones that have left a memorable mark on the OPSU softball program and inspired a new era of excellence. Notably, he coached Kaylie Grove to a second-team All-American selection in the 2022 season.
Under Benjamin's guidance, the Aggies reached unusual heights, including setting a school record with 35 wins in a single season. Additionally, the program received votes for the NAIA Top 25 Polls for the first time.
Benjamin's tenure was characterized by notable victories, including impressive upsets over nationally ranked opponents such as USAO and Oklahoma City University, which occurred twice each. Furthermore, he mentored players who received first and second-team awards.
"We extend our sincere thanks to Coach Benjamin for his dedication and contributions to Aggies softball," said Victor Esparza Director of Athletics at OPSU. "His impact on the program has been significant, and we are grateful for his leadership over the past four years. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
The search for the next head coach will commence immediately.
